About the George Brown Health Scholarship Program …

The George Brown Health Scholarship Fund is operated in memory and honor of Doctor George Brown who, with his wife Doctor carolyn Brown, worked to provide volunteer medical and health services to the Luo people in what was then known as Nyanza Province in the Republic of Kenya in East Africa, now Migori County.
The George Brown Health Scholarship Fund Mission
"... to provide financial support to qualified Kenya high school students to enable them to become health care professionals for the people of Kenya."
The program is overseen in Alaska, USA by an all-volunteer Board of Directors for the Women and Children's Health Associates (WCHA). This is a non-profit corporation with whom the Browns worked for many years to provide health care in Alaska.
The George Brown Health Scholarship Fund collaborates with an all-Kenyan group of volunteers from communities in Migori County to provide outreach education about the program, to assist students in the application process and to recommend qualified students to be selected by the WCHA Board of Directors in Alaska. Students chosen for the scholarship receive financial support for their studies in Kenya.
